Donations and support welcome at Drum Industrial Estate food bank

Christmas is coming and while this means food, fun and family for many, millions in crisis need to use food banks to survive.

Durham Food Bank, part of a nationwide network of foodbanks supported by The Trussell Trust, accept food and financial donations directly at their premises on The Drum Industrial Estate to help and support local people in crisis.

In the run up to Christmas, urgently needed items are: tinned ham; small Christmas cakes; Christmas crackers; peanuts; crackers; long life fruit juice; long life milk; sponge pudding; toilet rolls; and toiletries.

Thanks to a match funding offer, all donations made until 31 January will be doubled, at no extra cost ensuring they go further in helping people facing impossible decisions this winter.

Donations are accepted at Unit 7/9 First Avenue, Drum Industrial Estate, Chester le Street, DH2 1AG. The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 2pm.

The food bank is also seeking the support of businesses to help tackle food poverty. There are lots of ways to help including volunteering, organising a fundraising event, or donating equipment to help with the day-to-day running of the food bank.
