DurhamWorks helps employers expand workforce with a £2,500 grant

Using the grant, the DurhamWorks team have secured employment for 50 young people in the last 12 months and helped employers to expand their workforce.

DurhamWorks is a dedicated programme for young people living in County Durham who are not in education, employment or training and is funded by The European Social Fund, supported by the European Youth Employment Initiative and delivery partners.

its funding is available until July 2021, by then they aim to have supported up to 10,000 young people.

Julie Gowland, one of the Work Experience Officers at DurhamWorks said, “We can support employers through the recruitment process, from advertising the vacancy, finding the right young person for the role, to supporting the employer with the grant application and claims process.

“Once the young person has started with an employer, I will contact both the young person and employer at the end of their first week to see if any support or training is needed. I then keep in touch with the young person and the employer over a period of time to make sure that the job is going well.”
