Steelcraft anticipates bright future after securing local authority framework agreement

A metalwork and fabrication company has secured a place on the North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) framework, as part of the firm’s continued public sector growth.

Steelcraft Ltd, which operates from the Drum Industrial Estate in Chester-le-Street, specialises in manufacturing architectural metalwork, and will be a verified supplier for metalwork for six of the seven local authorities in the region until March 2024.

The win follows a fruitful five-year working relationship with Newcastle City Council, and it is expected that it will double the company’s public sector contracts work to £600,000 a year while securing long-term employment for its 24-strong workforce.

Liam Armstrong, Operations Manager, said: “This is a huge confidence boost for us, particularly as we continue to strengthen the sustainability of the businesses after the pandemic. The security of being a verified supplier for the majority of North East local authorities means we can safeguard jobs, plan to grow the workforce, and futureproof the long-term success of the business.”

Steelcraft, which has been operating for over 30 years, specialises in manufacturing bespoke architectural metalwork, including railings, gates, and handrails, with everything made onsite at its factory.

Liam added: “We will be contributing to the local authorities’ regeneration work supplying high-end stainless steel and glass staircases, garden gates and railings, and security gates for a range of projects across the region. We’re looking forward to getting underway and working with the local authorities over the next two years.”

Other clients include Taylor Wimpey, Keepmoat Homes, The Esh Group, Vistry, and Engie. The company has also recently launched a range of cycle stands through its ecommerce shop Forjj.com.

Steelcraft is based at 2 to 6 Second Avenue, Drum Industrial Estate, Chester-le-Street, DH2 1AG. The Forjj website can be accessed at: www.forjj.co.uk
