Heel and Toe children’s charity launches sustainable clothing initiative
Heel and Toe Charity has launched a clothing recycling initiative to fund its essential services for children with physical disabilities and complex needs in the North East.
The charity, based in Pelton near the Drum Industrial Estate, receives no government funding and relies entirely on fundraising and public support. In partnership with ECS Textiles, it is placing recycling bins across the region to collect unwanted clothing, toys, and bric-a-brac.
Mandy Hammond, Community Fundraiser at Heel and Toe, said: “These donations help us raise much-needed funds while reducing waste and supporting sustainability. We’re looking for more businesses and organisations to host bins and support local children.”
Recycling bins are already in place at local businesses, schools, and nurseries, with support from companies including Costain Group PLC, Stanley Travel, Olleco, BAM Construction, MAC Security and Fire Limited, Premier Traffic Management Ltd, and Nissan Motor Corporation.
