Businesses invited to ‘meet the buyers’ on 29 September

The event offers businesses across County Durham the chance to meet 12, mainly public sector, organisations that spend nearly £1bn between them and are working together to maximise benefits to the local area from their expenditure.

County Durham Pound: Meet the Buyer offers the opportunity for businesses that provide goods or services to other organisations and their supply chains to meet these organisations, learn about new contracts, framework opportunities, and other commercial opportunities.

The buyers include: Believe Housing; Bernicia; Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust; Business Durham; Durham County Council; County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service; Durham Police; Crime & Victim’s Commission; Durham University; Karbon Homes; Livin; New College Durham, and Northumbrian Water.

Attendees can also meet NEPO & Social Value Portal.

These organisations are collaborating on a series of commitments to drive social, economic, and environmental benefits, known as ‘social value’. This may include procurement decisions and the way suppliers are selected; how organisations operate as responsible and ethical employers; or how community initiatives are supported.

This event will provide information on County Durham Pound, as well as face to face meetings and additional networking with all organisations who are part of the County Durham Pound project.

There will also be training available from Social Value Portal and how to tender successfully for new contracts – within County Durham, across the North East region, and beyond.

The event, which takes place on 29 September at Radisson Blu Hotel, Durham, follows successful local supply chain development events in Durham. It is organised for the County Durham Pound project – a collaborative partnership seeking to create positive outcomes for communities across Durham.

Companies that are part of the DBOP Routes to Contract Success programme are especially encouraged to attend.
