Children’s charity to hold fundraising bike ride

Heel and Toe children’s charity in Pelton, near the Drum Industrial Estate, is inviting children to take part in its All Ability Bike Ride on Sunday 30 June.

The two-mile bike ride is suitable for children of all ages and abilities and will take place in Derwenthaugh Country Park.

Mandy Hammond, Community Fundraiser, said: “The bike ride is always a great success, and we want to encourage even more children to take part no matter what their cycling skills are.

“If participants don’t have an adapted cycle our friends at Gateway Wheelers will be there on the day to loan a cycle for children. All children taking part will receive a goody bag, charity t-shirt, and a certificate on completion.”

Heel & Toe is the only charity in the region to provide Conductive Education and subsidised therapies to children with physical disabilities and complex needs.

It doesn’t receive government funding, relying solely on donations, fundraising, and grants to pay for the therapy hundreds of children with physical disabilities and complex needs.

Registration for the bike ride is £5 per child and accompanying adults can take part for free. It is a minimum sponsorship of £50 per household.
