Free cyber security breakfast events for small businesses

Small businesses across the North East are being invited to strengthen their cyber security knowledge through a new series of free breakfast events organised by the North East Regional Cyber Crime Unit (NERCCU).

The Cyber Confidence for Small Businesses programme will run at venues across the region, offering practical guidance for small business owners and sole traders on how to protect their organisations from online threats.

The sessions are designed to raise awareness of cyber risks while providing clear, accessible advice that can be applied immediately.

Each event includes a complimentary breakfast and opportunities to network with other local businesses. Attendees will hear from cyber security specialists, local Cyber Protect Officers and the Regional Fraud Team, gaining insight into current cyber threats and fraud trends.

An interactive cyber security game will also form part of the programme, helping to reinforce key messages in an engaging and practical way. In addition, funded referrals to award-winning cyber security services will be available.

The first event takes place at Durham Cricket Club Riverside on 27 January 2026, followed by City Hall in Sunderland on 4 February 2026. The final session will be held at Acklam Garden in Middlesbrough on 26 March 2026. All events run from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

All sessions are free to attend, but places are limited. Registration is available via Eventbrite.
