Government backs regional tech growth with £1 million fund
A new £1 million government programme is launching to help tech founders outside London grow their businesses.
The Regional Tech Booster Programme, led by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, aims to close the gap between London’s tech scene and the rest of the UK, including the North East.
Founders will get mentoring, investment events, and workshops tailored to their needs.
Baroness Jones, Minister for Tech, said: “This investment forms an important part of our Plan for Change to kickstart economic growth in every part of the UK. By supporting regional tech entrepreneurs, we’re creating the conditions for innovation and prosperity to flourish.”
Run by the UK Tech Cluster Group, this programme is part of wider efforts like AI Growth Zones and Project Gigabit to boost regional tech hubs.
