Motor repair garage expands with three new centres

Tulip Tyre & Test Centre, based on the Drum Industrial Estate in Chester-le-Street, has opened two adjoining centres at Birtley in Gateshead one fitting high quality used tyres and one providing a fast-fitting service for all vehicle types.

Established in 2014 by Angela and Simon Tulip, the company is also opening a fourth garage, suppling and fitting part worn tyres, located in Bensham, Gateshead.

The move has seen the businesses take on four new mechanics and they are expecting a significant increase in its annual turnover.

Angela said: “While we specialise repairing and maintaining vehicles we have adapted and extended our expertise to include supplying and fitting partly worn tyres to help drivers at a time the cost of living is hitting families and motorists hard.

“We’re also seeing increasing numbers of customers keeping their vehicles instead of replacing them with newer models. This, coupled with the hefty increases in costs for new tyres, means supplying and fitting high quality part worn tyres is a growth market and a priority for our future.”

All the tyres supplied are graded AB, which is the highest quality and considers factors such as fuel efficiency, wet grip, and noise.

Birtley MOT Centre is located at Devon Crescent in Birtley, and specialises in car repairs, diagnostics, servicing, and brake and engine repairs. The newly opened part worn tyre discount centre is located next door.

The part worn tyre centre in Gateshead is due to open in the next few weeks and is located on Osborne Terrace, Bensham.
