MWS honours team with Appreciation Day

The event brought all 28 employees, from office staff to service engineers, under one roof for a full day of activities at the company’s headquarters based on the Drum Industrial Estate.

MWS Ltd has been manufacturing industrial weighing equipment for an extensive range of industries since 1994. Its precision equipment helps businesses meet strict regulatory standards, ensuring every product meets its declared weight and quality.

With many team members often working remotely or on the road, the gathering marked a rare opportunity for colleagues who rarely work side by side to connect in a more relaxed setting.

The day began with a welcome speech, followed by informal social time where employees had professional headshots taken and participated in group photos.

Managing Director Andrew Clarke said: “We’re growing as a business, but we know that progress only happens when people feel valued. Taking time to bring everyone together and show our appreciation isn’t just a gesture, it’s part of how we build a stronger team.”

As well as an outdoor lunch, the company held an awards ceremony for long service staff. Staff who had reached five years with MWS received certificates and an extra day of annual leave. Two employees, Ian Farnsworth and Jerome Agu, were recognised for 10 years of service. Both were awarded engraved watches from British watchmaker Christopher Ward and two additional days of leave.

MWS says it plans to make Employee Appreciation Day a regular event, viewing it as a key part of building a strong and connected workforce.

Andrew concluded: “Days like this don’t happen by accident. They happen because we believe that appreciating our team isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s essential to who we are as a company. Our people are our greatest asset and taking time to celebrate that is absolutely right.
