Volunteers clean up Drum Estate for Great Big Green Week

A group of volunteers collected seven bags of rubbish and a scooter on a litter pick at the Drum Industrial Estate.

The Co-op teamed up with representatives from North East Autism Society and Skills4Work for the litter pick as part of this year’s Great Big Green Week.

Sarah Skillen, Engagement Coordinator at the Co-op organised the litter pick.

She said: “Now in its third year, Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest call for action on climate change and to protect nature and we were delighted to support this important cause.

“We all had a great day, and we collected seven bags of litter and found a scooter! It’s great to do our bit and help clean up the streets on the Industrial Estate where we work.

“Thank you to all the volunteers who joined us. The clear message is to take your rubbish home or find a bin, don’t just drop it.”
